The NYFA has celebrated the “World’s Best
Advertising” across all media since 1957. The festival brings together the
world’s most talented chief creative officers, creative directors, film
producers, marketing executives and designers to serve on an international
Grand Jury which works together through a rigorous online judging process. Last
year’s Grand Jury consisted of creative professionals from 60 countries.
Over the past decade, Asanka has not only created
some of Sri Lanka’s most loved advertising campaigns but also directed short
films such as The Johnny
Mine, which follows the journey of an illiterate child soldier. He is
currently the only South Asian serving within the Film Craft category of this
year’s NYFA Grand Jury.
Commenting on his appointment, Asanka stated that
“reviewing some of the world’s best creative work provides a unique insight
into the industry’s current trends and master craft. As a Sri Lankan, this is
an amazing space for inspiration and helps us set new benchmarks for great creative
work that leaves a permanent mark in the local industry.”
