San Juan - Saatchi & Saatchi’s agency in Puerto Rico, Badillo Saatchi &
Saatchi, won a Bronze Sun in the Public Relations category at the 29th
edition of El Sol Festival for its “After Death” multi-media promotional effort
on behalf of the Puerto Rico Horror Film Fest. The festival, which was founded
in 1986 by Spain’s Advertising Agency Association and is now under the
leadership of El Sol Foundation, was held in Bilbao, Spain from May 29-31. The
leading agencies from Spanish and Portuguese speaking countries and the US
Hispanic market participate in this creative competition.
“After Death” recently won two
Silver awards and a Bronze award at FIAP and a Grand Prix, 3 Gold, 3 Silver and
4 Bronze trophies at Puerto Rico’s Cúspide Festival.
The Puerto Rico Horror Film Fest was bleeding out spectator by
spectator. It needed to be brought back
to life. To do this, the agency did
something unheard of in the film industry, exhibit a movie conceived by a dead
person. The short film was called “After
Death” and it was written with the help of an experienced medium who contacted
a spirit through a séance. The story
told by her was turned into a short motion picture. A filmed teaser was created along with radio
and print support.
“After Death” not only scared horror film lovers, it scared people
beyond Puerto Rico’s frontiers obtaining massive media coverage that earned the
movie the coveted official selection at 3 prestigious horror film festivals –
Séance in Toulouse, France; Macabro in Mexico and Sitges in Catalunya,
Spain. But most important of all, it
increased attendance at the Puerto Rico Horror Film Fest by 180%.
