Saatchi & Saatchi London announces the appointment of Steve Davies as Design Director and Martin Buckwell as Senior Digital Creative, bolstering the agency’s integrated creative offering. Starting later this year, they will report into Saatchi & Saatchi Creative Partners, Paul Silburn and Kate Stanners.
As Design Director, Davies’ core responsibility will be to oversee the look and feel of all design work produced by the London agency across all creative disciplines, while Buckwell will focus on shaping the agency’s digital offering. Both are new positions for Saatchi & Saatchi and further reinforce the agency’s commitment to producing truly integrated campaigns. Davies joins the agency from Beattie McGuinness Bungay, while Buckwell joins after a spell freelancing at Profero.
“Steve and Martin are seriously talented guys, who are widely regarded as best in class people. Their experience will be an invaluable addition to the creative team here,” comments Kate Stanners, Creative Partner, Saatchi & Saatchi London.
Davies began his career with Ogilvy and Mather. He joined Leagas Delaney in 2002 where he lead the design arm of the agency, before moving onto AMV BBDO. In the Spring of 2006, he started at BMB as their Head of Design, where his responsibilities included art direction, design, typography and illustration on high profile press, poster and TV campaigns.
Davies has produced award winning work on accounts such as Lucozade, COI, Guinness, Samaritans, First Choice and Selfridges – regularly appearing in D&AD, Creative Circle and Campaign Press and Poster Awards.
Buckwell has extensive experience in leading integrated campaigns for major brands across Europe. He was Digital Design Director/Creative Lead at BMB where he oversaw concepts, design and animation on Carling, IKEA, Virgin Active and Selfridges. Prior to this, Buckwell was Head of Art at Euro RSCG 4D, with clients including News International, Peugeot, Barclays and Sky, following several years working under his own company, Milkshake Design.
His awards include Cannes Cyber Lion (Silver) in 2008 as well as Campaign Big Gold and NMA Effectiveness Awards in the same year for the Carling i-pint application.
