Jakarta - Saatchi & Saatchi Indonesia and Biskuat
have released 1000 Balon, the first
Indonesian film to be made for children by children, an achievement recognised
by the Muri Awards (Indonesia’s equivalent of the Guinness Book of World
Records).
1000
Balon
is the result of a nationwide campaign by Biskuat to “empower every child to
shine in their own way”, and was executed on the ground and through multi-media
platforms by Saatchi & Saatchi Indonesia.
Through the platform “Biskuat Kreasi
Semangat”, the initiative provided opportunities for Indonesian children to
explore their creative potential through multiple roles required in movie
production, including director, art director, scriptwriter, music composer,
cameraman, actor and costume designer. Talented participants were scouted
through auditions held in seven cities (Jakarta, Bandung, Semarang, Surabaya,
Medan, Makassar and Palembang) with digital auditions also received online.
50 children were selected to participate in
a two week training camp that provided them with the opportunity to learn the
theory and practice of film production, as well as creative thinking and team
work. Workshop sessions were led by some of Indonesia’s most well-known figures
in the movie industry, including Ardy Octaviand, Jujuk, Agung Dewantoro, Adrian
Martadinata, Trisia Mawarti, Wencislaus, and Ilya Sigma. Shooting of the film
was completed in seven days.
“Traditional advertising will continue to remain
important, but the process of creating 1000
Balons was a great opportunity for us to introduce new ways of marketing in
Indonesia,” said Dini Makmun, CEO of Saatchi & Saatchi Indonesia. “Not only
does it contribute to the development of the next generation of creatives, it also
shows that Nothing Is Impossible.”
The movie premiered in Jakarta at Blitz
Megaplex theatres in Jakarta and Bandung in December 2013, and was then screened
in six audition cities in January 2014 before being telecast on a leading
Indonesian television channel.
